Maikel van der Veluten ended on top in the two star Grand Prix in Valkenswaard on Sunday riding VDL Groep Eureka (Chin Chin x Quidam de Revel). Aboard the 9 year old mare the Dutch rider produced one of the twelve clears in the jump-off, but he was by the fastest at a time of 39.50 seconds. Runner-up was Margie Goldstein-Engle on Royce (Cafe au Lait x Grandilot) with a time of 40.16 in the jump-off. Another American rider ended third; Nicholas Dello Joio on Carlos V.H.P.Z (Chellano Z x Voltaire) – also he clear at a time of 41.03 seconds.
In Verden the two star Grand Prix went to home rider Thorsten Wittenberg and Connaught (Cassini I x Sir Shostakov xx). Wittenberg had one of eight double clears in the class, leaving Philipp Weishaupt to second on Chico (Cordalme Z x Sandro) with 0.13 seconds separating the two in the jump-off. Third was another German rider, Andreas Kreuzer, who was back competing after his terrible fall in Aachen earlier this summer.
