the viewThe view when we left rio!! #terriAfter nearly two weeks away from home it was time for Terri, CC and Cornet to travel back to Germany. Terri has been updating us on twitter on their travel, and we have collected all her tweets here for you to see.

So a very long day begins, up at 3.30am to head to the stables so that we can move the horses over to stables at the airport #terri


The boys are settled in the boxes at the airport, time for a little nap before walking and lots of waiting! #terri

 

Still waiting at the airport! Hopefully the plane is here on time and loading goes smoothly so we can leave at 14.50 #terri

Wathelet wins in Oslo

gregory-banda-de-husGregory and Banda de Hus enroute to victory. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Gregory Wathelet was unbeatable in the 1.40 speed class at Kingsland Oslo Horse Show on Friday. The Belgian rider was first to go out of the 56 riders, and was incredibly fast on Banda de Hus (Argentinus x Lefevre) – leading the class from start to finish. Nobody could catch up with his time of 48.26 – although many tried to cut corners and speed up around the ten fence track. Closest came Rodrigo Pessoa on the super speedy HH Palouchin (Baloubet du Rouet x Chin Chin), who stopped the clock on 48.55 – just fractions behind Gregory. Dermott Lennon ended third after a fast round on Hallmark Elite (Lord Byron Z x Renville) on 49.88.

New horse for Jos Lansink

JosJos Lansink has a new ride. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Jos Lansink has a new horse in Aganix du Seigneur (Ogano Sitte x Chellano). According to studforlife.com the 6 year old stallion came to Jos last week, and the Belgian rider has bough half of it while Luc Henry owns the other half. Jos has high hopes for Aganix du Seigneur, who he belives has Olympic potential.

Tina Fletcher out for another eight weeks

tina-fletcherTina Fletcher. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.British showjumper Tina Fletcher will be out for another eight weeks after she injured her ankle at Spruce Meadows last month. Tina suffered a ligament damage after a fall from Hello Sailor in the Grand Prix, as one of the horse’s studs went into her achilles tendon. Tina aims to be back before Olympia in December 2012.

Romain Duguet competes for Switzerland, but is of French origin. Le Prestige St. Lois de Hus was previously ridden by Kevin Staut until his co-operation with Haras de Hus ended earlier this year. The gelding then moved to Martin Fuchs in Switzerland with the objective to be sold. During his stay Le Prestige was competed by Anna-Julio Kontio at the European Championship for Young Riders in August.

Tornesch is back!

Malin Baryard JohnssonTornesch is back! Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Malin Baryard Johnsson's ride Tornesch is now back fresh and sound and will compete at a national show in Sweden this weekend. Then the plan is that Tornesch will compete at the World Cup in Lyon and Verona in November. Tornesch injured himself during Falsterbo Horse Show, which was supposed to have been their last show before the Olympics in London.

 

Malin says to Ridsport that Tornesch was supposed to have a break after the Olympics, but that it of course wasn't part of the plan that they would miss the Olympics because of an injury.

Chapot, George H. Morris and William C. Steinkraus, and their Team Silver Medal at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. The courtyard is now called, "The 1960 Courtyard." The dedication and naming was made possible through a generous gift made to the Gladstone Fund by Jane Forbes Clark, USET Foundation President & CEO.

Urico and Cella to Ben Maher

IMG 8537Ben wishes Jane Clarke and her horses welcome.Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Ben Maher has taken over the ride of Jane Clark’s horses including the top mounts Urico and Cella, previously seen under Mario Deslauriers. Deslauriers and Clarke ended their partnership earlier this year and Clark has been looking for a new rider for her horses. After a long search she ended up with Britain and Ben although she did try and find another American rider.

 

Clarke has stated that "I looked at a number of riders and I really think that Ben was the best possible rider for these horses at this time. He's a brilliant rider and we're very happy with him. It had nothing to do with flags. It had to do with having the right person for my horses and doing the right thing by them."
