This weekend it was time for the Dutch Championship. Jur Vrieling with VDL Bubalu was the only rider that didn´t get any penalties during the show and ended up as the winner ahead of Gert-Jan Bruggink with Primeval Wings and Mathijs van Asten with VDL Groep Credence Z.
"It was a championship that was exciting to the last moment. In the second round some of the favorites fell away, but today Bubalu and I had to do everything right. We have had many hours of training at home over the last period. Chef dÉquipe Rob Ehrens has helped me which has improved Bubalu's canter. London and the Olympics are far away, but this championship is the first step on the road there and I still hope for the Olympics,"said the champion.
Rob Ehrens, who ahead of the championship had a clear vision about how his team in the first leg of the Top League in La Baule would look like, admitted that the result from this weekend made him change his mind. "Let me first of all say that it was a wonderful and exciting championship, and that the saying that you learn something new every day really is true. I now have some thinking to do about how the team should look in La Baule, so therefore I have not yet any names for the final team. This is partly because I want to have the strongest possible team to start in La Baule so we can get a good start for the league. This year I want a team that are in top form to start in London, as well as I want us to stay in the Top League."
