Alexander Onischenko has bought the promising 8 year old stallion Cabachon (Casall x Concerto II). Cabachon has up until now been competed by Norwegian rider Stein Endresen, under the ownership of Ib Kirk at Katrinelund stud & stallion station in Denmark and Kristin Andresen from Norway. “We have sold Cabachon to Onischenko, and we will deliver him at Paul Schöckemöhle’s stable today,” Ib Kirk says to WoSJ. “Cabachon will be deeply missed here at Katrinelund – both as a stallion and as a showjumper, but I had to be sensible and sell him at this point and I could simply not say no out of an economic perspective. Cabachon’s co-owner Kristin Andresen and his rider Stein Endresen both agreed on the sale, and we also have several other good horses together such as Acolino and Crelido as well as a very promising five year old called Nimble that Stein will continue to compete,” Kirk explains.
Endresen and Cabachon have had much success together, and Cabachon jumped at final of the World Breeding Championships for Young Horses as a 5, 6 and 7 year old. More recently Cabachon caught the attention of many when he jumped a double clear round for the Norwegian team in the Nations Cup in Drammen, and won a 1.45 class at the four star show in Copenhagen. Cabachon has also been extremely popular as a sire – especially in Scandinavia, and this year he has been standing at stud at Katrinelund in Denmark. Kirk discovered the stallion as a 2 ½ years old, when he bought the stallion from Heiko Schmidt.
