Ireland's Cian O'Connor and C Vier (Cardento x Concorde) won Saturday's biggest class at the Longines PfingstTurnier in Wiesbaden – the CSI4* 1.50m Lotto-Hessen Preis.

Twelve of the 39 horse-and-rider combinations in the class jumped double clear in this two-phase Großer Preis der Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden, where O'Connor was the fastest with the 14-year-old gelding that he recently partnered up with.

"I’m so pleased with C Vier," O'Connor said to World of Showjumping. "He really enjoys these grass arenas. Wiesbaden is a wonderfully traditional show that gets huge crowds, which makes it all the more special. He’s got so much experience and it is a credit to his previous riders Janine Rijkens and David Will who have produced him so well. I’m looking forward to some big days with him this summer."

"I'm delighted with our opening day here in Wiesbaden," O'Connor continued. "I am so proud of our entire team – Karlswood and Coolmore Showjumping – that had great results today. Alice Wachman has made huge progress this year and was clear with both her horses today. Max Wachman won the 1.45m today with Quintini and I was second with Taj Mahal, that jumped super. Tom Wachman finished third in tonight’s 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier, which I won with C Vier."

Coming in second behind O'Connor in the 1.50m was Karim Elzoghby (EGY) on the 12-year-old Zandigo (Zento x Concreto) – 0.40 behind on the clock. Third place went to Tom Wachman (IRL) on Lazzaro Delle Schiave (Acodetto 2 x Gluecksgriff) in a time of 29.25 seconds, while fourth place went to Emmanuele Gaudiano (ITA) on Crack Balou (Balou du Reventon x Chacco-Blue) and fifth to Bernardo Alves (BRA) on Mosito Van Het Hellehof (Elvis Ter Putte x Nabab de Reve).

Earlier in the day, Max Wachman (IRL) won the CSI4* 1.45m against the clock aboard the 13-year-old Quintini (Quintender II x Cassini II), beating his trainer Cian O'Connor on the 9-year-old talent Taj Mahal (Emerald van't Ruytershof x Quannan R) by over three seconds. The third place went to Mathias Nørheden Johansen (DEN) on Accolade (Chacco-Blue x Germus R).
