Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) won Sunday's CSI5* €275.000 Grand Prix Longines of Ascona presented by LGT Private Banking.

Riding the 9-year-old mare Berlinda (Berlin x Gento), Dreher went on to the jump-off as one of thirteen riders that managed to produce clears over the first round track. Another seven of the 38 riders in the class stayed clear on the fences, but recorded time-faults in the first round.

Against the clock, Dreher was the fastest to record the time of 38.36 seconds taking the top prize of 90.750 Euro. Michael Whitaker (GBR) followed in second place aboard the 10-year-old gelding Calisto Blue (Chacco Blue x Con Air), when crossing the finish line in 38.71. Third place in this 1.60m Grand Prix went to in-form Wilm Vermeir (BEL) on the 9-year-old gelding Iq van het Steentje (Toulon x Kannan), with the time of 38.83 seconds.

Wout-Jan van der Schans (NED) and Capetown (Oklund x Carlino) finished fourth, and Yuri Mansur (BRA) and Unita Ask (Corrado I x Caretino) fifth – both double clear.
