Leon Thijssen (NED) and the 11-year-old mare Faithless Mvdl (Ukato x Clinton) won Sunday's CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix Longines di Ascona presented by Banca Stato in Ascona, Switzerland.
Ten of the 35 horse-and-rider combinations in the Grand Prix produced clears to move on to the jump-off, where Thijssen and Faithless Mvdl stopped the clock at 41.63 seconds. Only 0.07 seconds behind the Dutch rider followed Barbara Schnieper (SUI) in runner-up position, with the 12-year-old gelding Escoffier (Lord Z x Numero). Third place went to Gilles Thomas (BEL), riding the 11-year-old gelding Konak (Nabab de Reve x Cash) to a time of 42.06 in the jump-off. Fourth place went to Oliver Lazarus (RSA) on Butterfly Ennemmel (Quaprice du Bois Margot x Lux Z), and fifth to Tim Wilks (CAN) on Guestlist (Cicero Z van Paemel x Eros Platiere) – both double clear, in 42.85 and 45.73 seconds respectively.
