Press release from Deutsches Spring- und Dressur-Derby
The 90th edition of the Hamburg Derby saw home hero Nisse Lüneburg (GER) win for the third time. This time around Lüneburg rode the 11-year-old Cordillo (Corrido x Candillo), and delivered an impressive double clear round.
“He has an amazing character, he doesn’t look to the left and not to the right and he would never let you down,” Lüneburg said about Cordillo.
Two horse-and-rider combinations cleared the extremely difficult derby track and qualified for the jump-off. When Lüneburg crossed the finish line in 53.52 seconds, Shane Breen (IRL) with Can Ya Makan (Canturo x Fara) had to see himself beaten by over a second to end up in runner-up position.
Once again Sandra Auffarth (GER) and Nupafeed’s La Vista (Lordanos x For Pleasure) ended third, this time after delivering the fastest four-fault round. Last year’s winner Matthew Sampson (GBR) had to settle for fourth place with four faults – this time riding Quality Old Joker (O.B.O.S. Quality 004 x Slyguff Joker), while Benjamin Wulchner (GER) with Bangkok Girl PP (Balou du Rouet x Quo Vadis) ended fifth.
