The legendary stallion Numero Uno (Libero H x Lord Calando, bred by M. van Deurzen) has passed away at the age of 28, Stal Horn announced on Monday. Following a successful sports career with Germany's Marco Kutcher, Numero Uno moved on to focus on breeding duties and has left a lasting legacy with his many offspring that have proven themselves at top level – among them Tamino, Tyson, Tobalio, Uno de La Roque, Charmeur, Cristello, Winchester HS, and Van Gogh. 

"With a lot of sadness and pain in our hearts we had to say goodbye to our stallion Numero Uno this morning," De Wiemselbach wrote on their official Instagram on Monday. "An intensely sad day for our stable and our family personally as Numero Uno has always held a very special place in our hearts and will continue to have it in the future. We are comforted that he was in a great condition until the moment of death and that he was able to enjoy his retirement here on the Wiemselbach every day. For 28 years we have been able to take care of him with pleasure. For 28 years we have enjoyed his unique personality and intelligence. Just as we were there for him every day, so he was there for us every day, willing to work and serving until the end. We are grateful for what he has given us and proud of everything we have been able to achieve together. We have seen him grow into his role over the years as an ambassador for showjumping horse breeding and as the figurehead and undisputed leader of our stable. Our thanks go to all the employees who lovingly cared for him over the years and together we will cherish all the beautiful memories with him. Uno, we will miss you, forever a special place in our hearts.
