France's Julien Anquetin and the 12-year-old Blood Diamond du Pont (Diamant de Semilly x Arpege Pierreville, bred by Matthieu Le Connetable) took the top honours in Saturday night's CSI5*-W 1.60m Longines Grand Prix in A Coruña, Spain.

A total of 15 horse-and-rider-combinations out of the 45 pairs at start cleared the first-round track set by Spain's Javier Trenor and joined the deciding jump-off that turned into a real race against the clock. In the end, it was Anquetin and Blood Diamond du Pont that pinned home hero Jesus Garmendia Echevarria and Callias (Companiero x Casco, bred by ZG Lothar & Sven Völz) to the runner-up spot, when the clock stopped on 37.70 for the French rider – who denied the host nation a win by 0.66 seconds.

Germany's Christian Ahlmann and Mandato van de Neerheide (Emerald x Pommeau du Heup, bred by Eric Van Giel) placed third in 38.61, while Italy's Lorenzo de Luca and F One USA (Toulon x Otangelo, bred by Th. H. W. ten Brinke and R. Bril) finished fourth in 39.24, followed by Sweden's Evelina Tovek aboard Azaria Dinero (Mylord Carthago x Drakkar des Hutins, bred by Emmanuelle Hamon) in fifth in 39.57.
