The traditional Holsteiner spring auction sale is held on 19 March 2022 – and for the 36th time now. Due to the Coronavirus restrictions still effective, the horses are put to auction online only also this year.

The lot comprises on the one hand three-year-olds, demonstrating their ability free jumping only and on the other hand ridden four-year-olds and older horses. A total of 32 highly promising offers has been hand-picked by executive director Roland Metz. Videos of the talents are already available for online viewing on the auction portal, holsteiner.auction

The lots include offspring by great names like Casall, Diamant de Semilly or Clearway same as the produce of younger stallions like for example United Way, Million Dollar or Manchester van’t Paradijs from proven stud farms. Among others, there’s lot No 22, three-year-old Iowa by I’m Special de Muze, a filly carrying the recently dead Olympic stallion Canturo on the dam’s side of her pedigree. Her dam, state premium mare Nanett, used to be a successful jumper to 1.35m level herself. From the same breeder as Iowa is lot No 10, five-year-old Kira, a Quasimodo van de Moldendreef daughter out of a very special dam, Festel I (by Cascadello I), crowned Holsteiner champion mare in 2016. The produce of the direct dam line also includes Olympic horse Vitali, an eventer competing with Tim Price at the Tokyo Olympics. Lot No 6 has a successful dam, as well: Californication VLN by Diamant de Semilly. The four-year-old filly’s dam, Colina by Clearway, was successfully shown to 1.50m level by Californication’s breeder, Natalia Czernik. Relatives of lot No 2, Calitino by Calido I-Caretino from mare family 104 A, have performed impressively as well: this four-year-old gelding’s dam is no other than BB Caretana, who was successfully shown to 1.50m level herself by Niklaus Schurtenberger and has already produced a stallion graded son, Casello by Casalito.

“I am very happy we have again succeeded in putting together a collection characterized by great athleticism. International blood on top of proven and well-bred Holsteiner dam lines, complemented by interesting young stallions and outcross alternatives“, head of marketing Roland Metz is pleased to say.
