Saturday 30 September, the 4^th edition of one of Belgium’s upcoming foal auctions takes place. After having a look at the fabulous collection, it is time to find out the 5 things you absolutely need to know about this interesting auction:

1. A YOUNG AUCTION WITH AN ENERGETIC AMBITION

Auction Twinkeling is a quite young auction, organized by the family Buyens behind studfarm Twinkeling in Belgium. This year, the 4^th edition of the foal auction takes place on Saturday 30 September with again an impressive collection of 33 jumping foals from Belgium’s finest breeders.

“We organized our first own auction 3 years ago. We had been breeding quite some foals since the launch of our studfarm Twinkeling in 2010 and we always considered auctions to be the most efficient market mechanism for bringing sellers and potential buyers together.”, says Leen Buyens. “We are still a quite young player in the market, but thanks to satisfied buyers, augmented investments in promotion and our focus on personal contact, we are substantially growing our customer base each year. At the same time, we are closely in touch with a growing amount of top breeders in Belgium, which is directly translated in the quality of our collection.  This year, we will also make the step towards online auctions, by the launch of our first “Online Auction Twinkeling”, which will start running shortly after the September auction, from Wednesday October 4 until Monday October 9.”

2. THOROUGH BUT PERSONAL SELECTION

Each foal of the collection is hand-picked by the auction team, based on its pedigree, performance of the damline, type and movement. The details of every foal, including pictures and video can be consulted on Auction Twinkeling’s website. The performance pedigree by Hippomundo, as well as the vet check of each foal can be reviewed on the site.

Bart Buyens comments: “We have assessed each foal in the collection in a very detailed way, mostly at the breeder’s place –sometimes with a beer or two… We have to be very severe in the selection, by assessing multiple parameters in order to ensure building a true top collection. At the same time, we believe it is very important to have a very honest and personal relationship with each of the breeders.”

3. WORLD-CLASS COLLECTION FROM BELGIUM’S BEST BREEDERS

Indeed, the collection of the 4^th edition of Auction Twinkeling is a pure delight. The collection of 33 jumping foals consists out of 19 fillies and 14 colts. The overall quality is extremely high with impressive damlines. A few special eye catchers include:

• Nr. 6 Riva AEG, a very beautiful Cicero Z van Paemel filly out of the full sister of Scott Brash’ top horse Hello M’Lady (ISJ 1.60m), who jumped herself internationally on ISJ 1.45m level.
• Nr. 7 and 23, Riviera and Rolls van Schuttershof are two quite unique foals, a filly and a colt, from Kashmir van Schuttershof out of the damline of Kashmir himself with dozens of international showjumpers in the damline
• Nr. 14 Rolie-Chacco van Essene, again a quite unique colt from Chacco Blue out of the sister to Extra van Essene, who recently won the 1.60m Grand Prix at Flanders Horse Event in Beervelde with Marlon Zanotelli.
•  Nr. 18 Emir van Klapscheut Z, a strong colt by one of the world’s most successful stallions Emerald van ‘t Ruytershof, out of an amazing damline. First dam Kiliana van Klapscheut is jumping very well in the 7yo classes. She is a daughter of the amazing Goriana van Klapscheut (1.60m with Pilar Cordon). She is also the sister to the new World Champion of the 7yo Koriano van Klapscheut, with Dayro Aroyave!

4. EVENT FOR CONNOISSEURS

The auction is not linked to another event, like an (international) jumping or other activity. This makes the Auction Twinkeling a true auction for connoisseurs and professionals. They will not only be charmed by the quality of the collection, but also by the interesting auction conditions, as Auction Twinkeling works with a sales commission of 8% (excl VAT), as opposed to substantially higher commissions in other auctions, going up to 15%.

The organization puts everything in place to allow interested buyers to follow and bid during the auction, even if they cannot be present. Clip My Horse will stream both the first presentation of the foals on 30 September at 4pm, as well as the auction itself, starting at 8.30pm sharp. Phone bidding is provided by the organization.

5. NEXT STEP: ONLINE

This year, the Auction Twinkeling team has taken the step to online. Shortly after the Auction of 30 September, another hand-picked collection of 30 jumping foals will be auctioned on the online platform of Auction Twinkeling.

Leen Buyens: “We really believe in the future of online. Digital transformation is taking place in a lot of other companies and industries. Also the horse industry will be impacted by this in the coming years. We do now have an online auction platform on our website. This year, we will start by organizing another foal auction on our platform. We believe we have selected again a very high quality collection. The auction will run from Wednesday 4 October until Monday evening 9 October. In the course of next year, we plan to organize a few other online auctions, e.g. for 2 and 3 year olds.
