The KWPN Stallion Show and Select Sale - Brabanthallen s’Hertogenbosch 1-4 February 2017

Known for its strict selection process and with numerous top horses as their references, KWPN has built a world known brand to guarantee top quality horses.

Last year’s KWPN Select sale saw 22 jumping stallions changing owners for the total price of €738.000, leaving the average price at €33.500. The current record was set in 2015 when the average sale for dressage and jumper stallions reached an all-time high at €49.676.

To purchase acknowledged KWPN jumpers is not a chance that comes along every day. The KWPN Select Sale is “THE” KWPN stallion auction – there is no other. All the stallions offered at the KWPN Select Sale has qualified for the second round of stallion selection. After getting through to the second and third round viewings these stallions can also be invited to the final round (Championship keuring) of the KWPN Stallion Show in Den Bosch and from there on to the KWPN stallion test in Ermelo where they can achieve the prestigious KWPN approval.

To buy a KWPN approved stallion is therefore both difficult and expensive and to be the owner of such a horse is definitely something to be proud of.

Not all stallions offered at the Sale will eventually be approved, but most of these talented youngsters become really good sport horses instead.

The KWPN Select Sale has previously sourced showjumpers competing at the highest level in the sport such as Zidane (Leopold van Asten) and USA Today (Robert Whitaker). When looking into the top sport some of the best showjumpers in the world are KWPN horses, including Big Star (Nick Skelton), Taloubet Z (Christian Ahlmann), VDL Groep Verdi (Maikel van der Vleuten) and Voyeur (Kent Farrington).

In 2007 KWPN also sold the most expensive (dressage) auction stallion ever, Blue Hors Zack (originally: Zagreb) by Rousseau x Jazz, that sold for €430.000.

Today’s young stallions go through the same selection process as all those superstars before them.  A strict selection guarantees quality, and quality is the guarantee for success. So far 17 jumping stallions have made it to the catalogue, but a few more will definitely be added during the stallion show. These are the Wildcards. This gives the buyers are given an exclusive opportunity to purchase these future stars at the right time.
