Abdullah Alsharbatly and Böckmann’s Lord Pezi Junior kick off the 2026-season on winning form in Doha

This week, Al Shaqab in Doha, Qatar, hosts the CSI4*/CSI2* H.H. The Father Amir's Prix to kick off the 2026-season.

On Friday, Abdullah Alsharbatly (KSA) and Böckmann’s Lord Pezi Junior (Böckmann’s Lord Pezi x Quattro 7) won the CSI4* 1.45m – the first Grand Prix qualifier of the week, a competition counting for the Longines Rankings Group D. Stopping the clock on 57.93, Alsharbatly bested a field 33 horse-and-rider combinations, taking the win ahead of Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) and Vasco 118 (Vivant x Chacco-Blue) in second in 59.04. Ahmad Saber Hamcho (SYR) on Frenchy VDS (Cornet Obolensky x Quidam de Revel) completed the podium in third with a time of 59.42, while Gerfried Puck (AUT) with Idiaal Special H.J. (Falaise de Muze x Carinjo) followed in fourth in 59.73 and Oliver Lazarus (RSA) aboard Butterfly Ennemmel (Quaprice Bois Margot x Lux Z) in fifth in 61.20.

On Saturday, Sharbatly and Böckmann’s Lord Pezi Junior continued their winning form, topping the second qualifier for the Grand Prix, a CSI4* 1.50m counting for the Longines Rankings Group B. In a jump-off of ten horse-and-rider combinations, the two clocked the winning time of 39.95, while Max Kühner (AUT) and EIC Quantum Robin V (Carambole x Stakkato) had to settle for second when the clock stopped on 40.73 for the the current world no. 23. Sienna Charles (GBR) and Stardust (Chacco-Blue x Con Air 7) rounded out the top three, followed by Abdel Saïd (BEL) and Wathnan Zasou Vom Claashof (Zinedine x Lord Z) in fourth and Scott Brash (GBR) with Hello Mango (Untouchable 27 x Numero Uno) in fifth.

The second ranking class of the day, a CSI4* 1.45m – counting for the Longines Rankings Group D – went to Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano and Vasco 118, while Roberto Previtali (ITA) on Chaquano PS (Chacco-Blue x Cartogan) took the runner-up spot, followed by Gerfried Puck (AUT) with Idiaal Special H.J. in third.
