Alexis Goulet (FRA) and the 10-year-old mare Calla (Quateron x Vittorio) were uncatchable in Friday's CSI4* 1.50m Mâconnaise des Eaux by Véolia in Mâcon, France, a qualifier for Sunday's Grand Prix counting for the Longines Ranking Group D.
Three horse-and-rider combinations delivered double clear rounds in the class, and Goulet was by far the fastest with a time of 41.03 in the jump-off. The second place went to Maksymilian Wechta (POL) and Chepettano (Chepetto x Calido I), who crossed the finish line in 42.12 seconds, followed by Imma Roquet Autonell (ESP) and Icenta del Maset (Indret del Maset x Cento) in third 0.6 seconds behind.
"I am very happy with Calla who has not competed since the French Championships in Fontainebleau," Goulet said in a press release from Jumping International Mâcon Chaintré. "Yesterday, in the small class, she was a little fresh but today she jumped in an incredible way! I think she has just completed one of her best rounds during our time together. In the jump-off she was fast as usual. I didn't want to go too fast from the start, but she really likes these jump-offs with big curves. It is a very nice competition where the facilities are excellent and the welcome is warm, so I am even happier to win here with Calla and I will be at the start of the Grand Prix on Sunday, of course!”
