Press release from Lake Placid Horse Shows

Brian Moggre (USA) won the $45,000 FEI 3* jump-off sponsored by STX Horse Vans and Keith Hughes, Friday’s featured class at the 2025 Lake Placid Horse Shows (LPHS), sponsored by The Bainbridge Companies, LLC, and Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC. The horse shows at the newly renovated North Elba Showgrounds are sanctioned by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and run June 24-July 6.

Riding Evergate Stables’ Edgard De Prefontaine (Contact van de Heffinck x Orlando), Moggre was one of six entries from the starting field of 38 to reach the jump-off by riding clean over the 16-effort first-round course designed by Michel Vaillancourt. After the first two faulted over the eight-jump tiebreaker course, Emily Dehoff (USA) took the lead with a clean ride in 41.07 seconds on The Sporty Game LLC’s 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare Manou De Muze (Arko III x Quidam de Revel). Two rides later, Mark Bluman of Colombia made two tight turns on his way to the fastest time of 39.40 seconds, but a rail down at the final fence cost him and Joevaro N (H5 Elvaro x Equador), Luja LLC’s 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion, four faults and gave them an ultimate third-place finish.

Moggre, winner of last year’s Lake Placid Grand Prix with MTM Vivre Le Reve, was the last to go. He rode his 15-year-old, Belgian-bred gelding to the second clean ride of the jump-off, finishing in 40.46 seconds to claim the win.

“This is the first time I have jumped him at this height; it’s only my fourth show with him,” Moggre said. “He felt amazing in the first round, so I felt I could take a few risks in the jump-off. I gave it the best shot I could, and he was right there with me. He is such a lovely horse. I’m so grateful to be able to ride him.

“The new grounds here look absolutely beautiful, and the rings are riding great,” he added. “It’s wonderful to be back, and I’m excited about the future here!”
