The time to beat narrowed quickly in the jump-off for the Mezcal Es Oaxaca CSI5* 1.50m, but Ireland's Conor Swail was the one who could not be caught. He and Count Me In (Count Grannus x Sherlock Holmes), a 14-year-old gelding, left the field the eventual victor on Thursday as Major League Show Jumping made its debut at Otomí Residencial Hípico in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Still a relatively new mount for Swail, he purchased the gelding together with a dear friend from Ireland.

"He's been on a good run of form," said Swail. "He is so much quality and very enjoyable to ride. At 14, some people say he's never going to learn any more, but I would disagree with that. I've ridden a few older ones and they can always do what you ask of them as long as they understand."

Swail bested Daniel Bluman (ISR) and Ubiluc (Ubiko x Lucian) by a second, and Jana Wargers (GER) took third riding Limbridge (Limbus x Cambridge).

Major League Show Jumping continues with the $200,000 MLSJ Team Competition on Friday afternoon at 3pm CT when Swail will make his premiere on team Eye Candy after being picked up by the series-leading team during the fall trade window.
