David Will (GER) and Zaccorado Blue (Zirocco Blue x Acorado I) won Saturday's CSI5* 1.50m '25 Jahre Derby mit En Garde' Preis in Hamburg, Germany.
Stopping the clock on 64.55 seconds, the German rider took the win ahead of his compatriot Daniel Deusser (GER) aboard Bingo Ste Hermelle (Number One d'Iso un Prince x Diamant de Semilly) with a bit over a second separating the two riders. Denis Lynch (IRL) and Cornets Iberio (Cornet Obolensky x Charlottenhof's Iberio) placed third after clocking a time of 65.94 seconds.
“I saw Daniel’s ride on the screen and knew it could go a little faster," David Will said in a press release from the German Jumping and Dressage Derby. “I know Zaccorado very well and knew: If I wanted to do less strides, then it would be to the combination – that worked.”
“We have had Zaccorado in the stable for a long time, he is our ribbon pony," Will continued about his winning mount. "He is super versatile, very careful, has a great canter and collects placings.”
Trevor Breen (IRL) and Luidam's Warrior (Luidam Elite x Warrior) finished fourth in 66.81, followed by Jörne Sprehe (GER) and Toys (Toulon x Quidam de Revel) in fifth in 66.86.
