Press release from the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour
The second week of the third and final part of Autumn MET 2024 concluded on Sunday with the CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix presented by Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort with Italy’s Emiliano Liberati and the 9-year-old mare Aruba Island (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Carthago) spoiling a Spanish party.
Six horse-and-rider combinations out of the 60 pairs at start cleared the first-round track set by the French course designer Gregory Bodo – co-designer at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games last summer – and joined the deciding jump-off, where Liberati took the win after stopping the clock on 35.96 seconds.
Two Spanish riders followed in second and third: Hugo Alvarez Amaro on Casaspezia (Casalido x Böckmann’s Lord Pezi) and Alberto Marquez Galobardes on Ucello Massuere (Cassini II x Galoubet A) completed the podium. Hugo Alvarez Amaro finished the jump-off in 36.80 seconds, while Alberto Marquez Galobardes was lightning fast with his time of 33.40 seconds, but the risk came at the expense of a rail down to put him on four faults.
Last week’s Grand Prix winners Laura Renwick (GBR) and Enjoy Ck Z (Echo van’T Spieveld x Coronado) finished fourth with four faults and a time of 33.81 seconds, ahead of Jane Annett (GBR) and Jywan (Etoulon x Karandasj) in fifth – also they on a score of four penalties.
