Francesca Ciriesi and Cape Coral (Comme Il Faut 5 x Friedenstraum) delivered a home win in Sunday's CSI4* Grand Prix in Gorla Minore, Italy.
Seven of the fifty horse-and-rider combinations in the class delivered clear rounds to move on to the jump-off, where Ciriesi was the fastest of those producing double clears with a time of 45.34 seconds. A little over two seconds behind followed Great Britain's Donald Whitaker aboard Di Caprio (Diarado x Cassini I), while third place went to Ireland's Paul Kennedy with Cartown Danger Mouse (Harlequin de Carel x breeding unknown) who was 0.21 seconds slower than Whitaker. Brazil's Pedro Veniss and Böckmann's Lord Pezi Junior (Böckmann's Lord Pezi x Quattro 7) had the fastest time in the jump-off but on the expense of four faults, having to settle for fourth place. Swiss rider Elian Baumann finished fifth with Campari Z (PKZ Contact van de Heffinck x Platini M), also with four faults against the clock.
