Belgium's Gilles Thomas and the 10-year-old gelding Chuck Marienshof Z (Colestus x Emerald) took the top honours in the CSI4* 1.55m Sweden H&M Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon as Sweden International Horse Show came to a close with its 2025-edition.
In a jump-off of seven, Thomas clocked the winning time of 34.22 seconds to take the win ahead of Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) and Charly Heart (Cornet Obolensky x Heart-Ache BS) who had to settle for second 0.74 behind on the clock. It was a good day for the Belgians in Stockholm, as Olivier Philippaerts finished third on H&M Miro (Diamant de Semilly x Kannan) with a time of 35.13 and his twin brother Nicola fifth aboard Moya vd Bisschop (Darco x Utrillo Z), only separated by Ben Maher (GBR) in fourth riding Night Hawk (Stakkato Gold x Clinton) to a time of 35.54 in the jump-off.
"This was one of our first Grand Prix classes together. He has been jumping well all week, so I had a good feeling going in. The course was difficult and long, and in the jump-off it helped that I rode as the fourth starter. I knew exactly what I needed to do," said Gilles Thomas in a press release from Sweden International Horse Show.
"The crowd is incredible! They cheer for everyone, no matter who was in the arena. The atmosphere is magical," he added.
