It was a memorable afternoon for the French riders at Casas Novas, as they took three of the five best places in Saturday's CSI4* 1.50m Longines Trophy.
Guillaume Foutrier (FRA) and Tchin de la Tour (Chin Chin x Narcos II), that came in last in the winning round, snatched the victory from Alexis Deroubaix (FRA) and Timon d'Aure (Mylord Carthago*HN x Drakkar Des Hutins) with 0.31 seconds separating the two pairs. Again, Eric van der Vleuten (NED) was in the top three with Zigali P S (BMC Kigali x Palfrenier), taking the third place in this world ranking competition.
Gerardo Menéndez Mieres (ESP) gave a magnificent performance for the hosts to place fourth with Costello DC (Cassino x breeding unknown), while Alexandra Paillot (FRA) finished fifth aboard Lumina (Lordanos x Pilot).
Earlier in the day, Hugo Tavares (POR) and Phebus du Fief (Echo Des Forets II x Prince Ig'Or) won the 1.45m Lexus Trophy – also a class counting for the world ranking. Samantha McIntosh (NZL) took the second place aboard Estina (Heartbreaker x Achill/Libero H), while third went to Luis Sabino Gonçalves (POR) on Acheo di San Patrignano (Ephebe For Ever x Nadir di San Patrignano).
