Friday's biggest win at the 2024-edition of the Toscana Tour in Arezzo, Italy, went to the host nation as Gianpiero Garofalo (ITA) and Hero (Diamant de Semilly x Quidam de Revel) took the top honours in the CSI4* 1.50m jump-off class which also served as a qualifier for Sunday's Grand Prix.
Topping a world-class field of 96 horse-and-rider-combinations, Garofalo and Hero were the fastest pair in a jump-off of sixteen when some of the 21 pairs that cleared the first-round track – set by Italy's very own Uliano Vezzani – opted not to return.
With a time of 41.49 seconds, Garofalo and Hero took the win ahead of Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) and Heureuse Nouvelle WH (Cardento 933 x Indoctro) in second in 42.65. Pieter Clemens (BEL) and Emmerton (Silvio I x Sam R.) placed third with a time of 43.97.
Roy van Beek (BEL) and Cavoiro - H (Casallco x Calido I) finished fourth with a fence down in 41.21 seconds, while four faults in 41.21 left Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Caracho (Cassilano x Quick Star) to fifth.
