Hansi Dreher and the 14-year-old gelding Vestmalle Des Cotis (Baloubet du Rouet x Landor S) took a popular home win in Sunday's CSI4* 1.55m Bemer Riders Tour Grand Prix Preis der Auto Nagel Unternehmens-Gruppe at the Turnier der Sieger in Münster, Germany.
Eleven horse-and-rider combinations made it to the second round of the Grand Prix, where eight produced a clear and fastest of them was Dreher who clocked a time of 40.72 seconds after taking all the risks required in order to snatch the win from Christian Kukuk. "I had seen a few rounds ahead of me and knew that I had to risk everything," Dreher said in a press release from Turnier der Sieger. “My horse doesn't find tight turns so easy, so I often took a longer route and went for the first distance I saw. I have my horse to thank for the fact that my plan worked out.”
All of the other seven clear rounds came from Germans, with the second place going to Christian Kukuk and Checker 47 (Comme Il Faut x Come On) with a time of 42.30. "A small buck during my round prevented my original plan from working out. But I think I gave it my all and couldn't have set a faster time. In this respect, Hansi is the deserved winner,” Kukuk said.
In 43.11 followed Patrick Stühlmeyer and Drako de Maugre (Kannan x Fusain du Defey*HN) who tied in third with Mario Stevens and Starissa (Stakkato Gold x Quidam's Rubin) after the two clocked exactly the same time. Closing off the top five was David Will aboard Zinedream (Zinedine x Contender ) with a time of 43.18 seconds.
