Home win for Kevin Gonzalez De Zarate Fernandez in the CSI4* Grand Prix of Gijon

Spain's Kevin Gonzalez De Zarate Fernandez made it a home win in Sunday's CSI4* 1.60m Grand Prix of Gijon. Riding the 12-year-old gelding Frappant (Warrant x Ticallux Verte), the Spanish rider posted one of only three double clears in the Grand Prix and with a time of 58.86 seconds in the second round the victory went to the hosts. 

Abdullah Alsharbatly (KSA) and Arena UK Winston (Waldo Van Dungen x Hamilton Tropics) finished second with a time of 61.57, while the third place went to Axel van Colen (FRA) and Darkhorse Brimbelles (Air Jordan x Diamant de Semilly) after the two clocked a time of 64.39. With one time penalty from round one, and a clear in round two, Guillaume Foutrier (FRA) took the fourth place aboard Corneska de La Falize Z (Cornet Obolensky x President), while Mans Thijssen (NED) finished fifth aboard Hello (Alano x Nabab de Reve) after ending round two with three time faults.
