Austria’s Katharina Rhomberg and the 11-year-old gelding Colestus Cambridge (Colestus x Cambridge) won Sunday’s CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix Giorgio Armani presented by Longines in Lido di Camaiore, Italy.
Clocking the time of 36.54 seconds in a jump-off of seven, Rhomberg took her first five-star Grand Prix win. “I can't believe it,” she said in a press release from Longines Versilia Horse Show, presented by Giorgio Armani. “I'm just incredibly happy, my horse jumped amazing. I was last to go in the jump-off. Actually, there were very fast riders in front of me and I thought I can't beat them, but I could and it was just amazing, I'm very, very happy.”
Adbulrahman Alrajhi (KSA) and Ventago (Van Helsing x Hunter’s Scendix) took the runner-up spot in 38.06, while Jérôme Guery (BEL) and Qartouche de la Pomme d’Or (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Ustinov) completed the podium in third with a time of 39.24.
The host nation’s Emanuele Camilli on Chacareno PS (Chacco-Blue x Calvaro F.C.) and Emanuele Gaudiano aboard Esteban de Hus (Cornet Obolensky x Baloubet du Rouet) finished fourth and fifth respectively.
