Edited press release from Spruce Meadows
Spruce Meadows launched the FEI Tournament Season on Friday with the Founders' Classic CSI3*.
Katie Laurie (AUS) was among the 34 entries that tackled the course designed by FEI course designer Leopoldo Palacious (VEN) in the Friends of the Meadows 1.45m competition. With Cera Caruso (Casall x breeding unknown), Laurie successfully completed the first round of competition without faults and could not be caught in the 16 horse jump-off. It was a great start to the Spruce Meadows season for the Australian Olympian.
Two home riders followed in second and third; Brian Morton (CAN) with Firefly W (Nabab de Reve x Voltaire) and Kara Chad (CAN) with Quidamo F (Quality x Chameur). Rowan Willis (AUS) finished fourth with Ashton Dakota (Lupicor x Corofino I), while fifth went to Alberto Sanchez-Cozar (MEX) with Catover (Catoki x Contact Me).
Riders that successfully completed in this competition have now qualified for the Friends of the Meadows Grand Prix taking place on Sunday, June 12.
