Thirty-five horse-and-rider combinations had lined up for the West Canadian CSI2* 1.45m Grand Prix for the final day of the Spruce Meadows 'Pan American', presented by Rolex. The two round competition required athletes to jump clear in the first round of competition in order to qualify for the jump-off round against the clock.

There were 10 duos representing five countries who advanced to the jump-off. Kent Farrington (USA) and Chato Lou (Chacco-Blue x Cento) were able to best them all when putting in a clear ride with a time of 43.14 seconds to win the CSI2* West Canada Grand Prix.

"He's obviously very fast. He's extremely careful. Those type of horses it's always hard to know how big they're going to jump in the end. But I think at whatever job he does in the international sport, whether it's for two star, three star, four star speed horse, he's going to win," Kent Farrington said about Chato Lou.

Robert Blanchette (IRL) and Chardonnay (Comme Il Faut 5 x Jus de Pomme) finished second, only 0.03 behind Farrington, while Charlise Casas (USA) and Chaccolina D (Chacco-Blue x Quantus) took the third place with a time of 43.36. Fourth place went to Tiffany Foster (CAN) and Brighton (Contendro II x Quick Star), and fifth to Vanessa Hood on Cascalretto (Casall x Calando I).
