Lauren Hough was the best rider in the first CSI5* competition at the Stephex Masters, as the American rider won Thursday's 1.50 Grand Prix qualifier on Royalty des Isles (Zandor Z x Elan de la Cour). It was not much that separated her from runner-up Eric Lamaze though who was aboard Rosana du Park (Kannan x Ukase), only 0.17 seconds was the difference between the two riders.
Darragh Kenny and Picolo finished third (Diamant De Semilly x Alme), a second behind Hough's time. The best home rider was Jos Verlooy who ended fourth on Farfelu de la Pomme (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Darco) while USA's Lucy Davis finished fifth on Barron (For Pleasure x Nabab de Reve).
