Brazil’s Luciana Lossio and her mare Lady Louise Jmen made a lively return to U.S. soil to take the win in the $62,500 Florida Coast Equipment CSI2* Grand Prix on Sunday of WEF 3.

“We took some time off, and this was our first big show for us,” said Lossio, who won a five-star grand prix with Lady Louise during the 2024 WEF season. “We’ll stay for the rest of the season and work on moving up. The goal is to qualify for the four-star and five-star classes.” 

Lady Louise (Landario Jmen x Calisco Jmen), a Brazilian-bred mare, had no problem making light work of Canadian course designer Peter Grant’s track. Not far from the winning pair was Amy Millar (CAN). She finished second with Christiano (Canoso x Compliment), a 16-year-old Dutch-bred gelding, for owners Future Adventures. Jonathan Corrigan (IRL) took third with Darius De Kerglenn (Mylord Carthago x Diamant de Semilly), a 13-year-old gelding.

Bought as a six-year-old, the now 15-year-old Lady Louise has brought Lossio places she never expected to go. “We found her in the middle of nowhere in Brazil. I went to see her; I liked her, so we brought her in originally to do the 1.20m. At the time, I didn’t want to jump any more than that,” said Lossio. “But she made me believe that I could jump more. She’s shown me the world. We had great seasons here, and we’ve been to Europe together. This mare is everything to me.”

As an amateur rider and a full-time lawyer in Brazil, Lossio will travel to Wellington weekly throughout the season to compete. Alongside her husband and fellow amateur rider Rodrigo Cunha, the pair hope to see Lady Louise back in the Saturday Night Lights spotlight soon.
