The home riders dominated in Friday’s CSI5* 1.55m class counting for the world ranking at Hubside Jumping in Grimaud, France, with the French filling up the podium as well as taking the fifth place.

Marie Demonte (FRA) won the class, after finishing the jump-off in 39.91 seconds, riding the 9-year-old stallion Manchester (Quidam de Revel x Codex) who did his 1.55m debut. The runner-up position went to Edward Levy (FRA) with Rebeca LS (Rebozo La Silla x Cassini I) after the pair stopped the clock in 39.95 seconds. With 40.17 seconds, Simon Delestre (FRA) took third place together with Chesall Zimequest (Casall x Concerto II).

The only rider who managed to break the French domination was Christian Ahlmann (GER) with Clintrexo Z (Clintissimo Z x Rex Z). Fifth place went to Alexa Ferrer (FRA) with Encantado C’SG (Verdi TN x Zeus).

“Already when Christian Ahlmann went in as first to go in the jump-off, we all thought he was amazing,” Demonte said. “Then came Simon Delestre, who looked unbeatable. Edward Levy then managed to take the lead with Rebeca, who we all know to be very fast. Then it was my turn: Manchester is a very fast horse and he won three classes here last summer. However, this was his first 1.55m class. Everything went wonderful – he was incredible!"

Later during the day, Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) and Nikolaj de Music (Kannan x Nabab de Reve) won the 1.50m class – also counting for the world ranking. Second place once again went to Edward Levy (FRA) – this time with Confidence d’Ass (Diamant de Semilly x Eurocommerce Berlin) ahead of Francois Mathy Jr (BEL) with Casanova de L’Herse (Ugano Sitte x Kashmir van Schuttershof).
