The Chard Equestrian Grand Prix, presented by Chedington Equestrian delivered an exhilarating display of the best showjumping has to offer. The Ben Townley designed course was a real test of the partnership between horse and rider.

The first round saw 35 hopeful combinations come forward all with the ultimate goal of wanting to win the lion share of the EUR 56,800 prize pot and with it a place in the Chard Equestrian Grand Prix history books. Seven combinations jumped clear and booked themselves a place in what ended up to be a world class jump off.

The jump off began in style with Mark Edwards being first to go with his father Martyn Edward’s Dillinger NE (Diarado x Carismo) in a time of 42.46.

The battle for the podium kept on going until the very end with last to go Gaspard Maksud (FRA) and Ballypatrick Tiberius (Caligula X Messenger) finishing 2nd. It was Jodie Hall-Mcateer and La Gupardie (Van Gogh x Carrera VDL) who completed the line up finishing 3rd.

Dr Geoffrey Guy of Chedington who was delighted with the top sport said “Chedington is delighted to continue its support for Chard Equestrian. It’s clear that Chard is going from strength to strength and really is bringing a great focus to equestrian sport here in the South West of England. Today’s Chard Equestrian Grand Prix, presented by Chedington Equestrian was tight and exciting, just the sort of sport all the spectators like to see and I’m sure will bring more top level competitors to this event in the years to come.”

Show Director Jane Gregory who was also delighted with the Grand Prix commented on how exhilarating the class was saying “it really is the best way to end an amazing week of top class sport. It’s is humbling to experience such world class competition here at Chard. The support from Chedington, and our other sponsors is phenomenal we couldn’t do it without them”.
