It was the experienced couple of Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Extra Van Essene (Diamant de Semilly x Gotthardsen) that won Sunday's CSI3* Grand Prix of Beervelde.
The 1.55m competition had 40 riders in it, with twelve moving on to the jump-off. Five pairs managed to produce double clear rounds, with the Brazilian rider and the 13-year-old gelding being the fastest with their time of 41.29 seconds. The two also won Friday's 1.50m class against the clock, making it a very good weekend indeed.
Two home riders followed in second and third: Wouter Devos on Emporio Van't Holeinde (Fetiche du Pas x Acorado) with a time of 42.08 seconds and Gilles Thomas on Cantario (Casiro I x Cantus) in 44.25 seconds. Devos was also in the top five in both Friday and Saturday's 1.50m classes at the event.
America's Beezie Madden finished fourth on her now 18-year-old World Cup Champion Simon (Mr. Blue x Polydox), while Damien Haelterman rounded off the top five for the hosts on Hooligan de Laubry (Clinton I x Skippy II).
