Germany's Marvin Jüngel and the 14-year-old mare Balou's Erbin (Be Bravo x Consul) won the 93rd German Jumping Derby presented by IDEE KAFFEE in Hamburg on Sunday. As the only double clear of the day, the 21-year-old took the win ahead of Denmark's Caroline Rehoff Pedersen and Calvin 115 (Castelan 3 x Colman) who delivered the second clear but had to settle for the runner-up position after picking up a single time fault in the jump-off.

"I'm really at a loss for words," Jüngel – the second youngest Hamburg Derby winner in history after Alwin Schockemöhle, and who runs his own riding school in Kamenz, Saxony – said. "You really can't breathe deeply during this course. It's my mother's birthday tomorrow, now we can celebrate in a particularly good way."

"Calvin is incredibly brave, has a huge canter and I had the feeling that he feels comfortable here and would do well," second placed Caroline Rehoff Pedersen said.

The third place went to Germany's Benjamin Wulschner and Bangkok Girl PP (Balou du Rouet x Quo Vadis) with four faults in 150.80 seconds. With this top placing, Bangkok Girl PP is now retiring from the sport and goes into breeding. "She jumped fantastically," Wulschner said. "She could definitely go another three or four years, she's fit enough. But I would also like to breed a derby horse out of her. The surface was the very best, a big compliment to the organizer."

Germany's Sandra Auffarth and Nupafeed's La Vista (Lordanos x For Pleasure) finished fourth, followed by Ireland's Stephan Dubsky aboard C The Stars (Contendro x Cassini II) in fifth. Sandra Auffarth was also awarded with the Rightful Investment Harmony & Fairness Style Prize, which is determined by viewer voting. "I'm very proud of this honour," she said. "The audience here is simply fantastic, the atmosphere is unbelievable and cannot be compared to any other show. It's a lot of fun, and the horses also feel very comfortable here."
