Press release from Old Salem Farm, edited by World of Showjumping
After launching into the winner’s circle during the $25,000 Great Oak Speed Stake on Saturday, Philip McGuane (IRL) earned his second consecutive victory at the 2025 Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows presented by J.P. Morgan Private Bank on Sunday, this time leading the victory lap with My Lady Van De Krekel (Aganix du Seigneur x Numero Uno) in the $40,000 CSI2* Great Oak Grand Prix presented by J.P. Morgan Private Bank. The pair finished on one of three double-clear scores in 40.47 seconds.
With the beautiful backdrop of Westchester County’s surrounding horse country, the Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows presented by J.P. Morgan Private Bank featured two weeks of world-class competition on par with what everyone has come to expect from Old Salem Farm. The 2025 Shows hosted an CSI4*/2* event, September 9-14, and an CSI2* event, September 16-21, with both weeks rated USEF ‘National’ for hunters. Additionally, Old Salem’s September schedule includes a USEF National/Level 2 event, September 25-28.
Course designer Ken Krome challenged 31 horse-and-rider combinations representing seven countries with a winding 16-effort, 1.45m track for Sunday’s $40,000 Great Oak Grand Prix, where seven solved the questions correctly to advance to the jump-off. Pathfinder Steven Bluman (ISR) maintained his faultless round and set the time to beat at 40.60 seconds aboard Chice Lotti M (Chacoon Blue x Calido I). The next two entries each dropped a rail to end on a four-fault score, but McGuane found the winning track with Evergate Stables LLC’s 8-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, stopping the clock in 40.47 seconds.
Bluman and Blue Star Investments’ 8-year-old Westphalian mare ultimately landed in second place for their efforts. Alexa Pessoa (USA) finished third with a double-clear score of 40.89 seconds aboard Viva Las Vegas W (Vagabond de La Pomme x Cancara), Clover M Sporthorses LLC’s 9-year-old Holsteiner mare.
Although she had the speed to catch McGuane with both her mounts, Kaitlin Campbell (USA) ended on four faults with each, taking fourth place aboard Mirasol Equestrian LLC’s 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Karius (Van Gogh x Drossan) and rounding out the top five with SWS Training & Sales’ 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding Armentos (Armitage 2 x Levantos I).
