The hosts dominated Sunday’s CSI5* GNP Grand Prix in Monterrey, Mexico.
After a jump-off of five, Arturo Parada Vallejo (MEX) and Mon Faut-Tren (Comme Il Faut x Cardento) – who also won Friday’s CSI5* 1.50m presented by La Querancia at Club Hipico La Silla – took the top honours when the clock stopped on 39.46.
Three of his compatriots followed with double clear performances; Nicolas Pizarro (MEX) and Pia Contra (Conthargos x Chacco-Blue) placed second with a time of 40.35, while Federico Fernandez (MEX) with Romeo (Lando x Cheers Cassini) took third in 40.42 and Jose Antonio Chedraui Eguia (MEX) aboard Con-Cor (Starpower x Padinus) finished fourth with a time of 43.82. Fastest of the competition, Kristaps Neretnieks (LAT) and Valour (Verdi TN x Calido I) rounded out the top five with a fence down in 39.06.
On Saturday, Luis Pedro Biraben (ARG) and Georgina de Carles (Kannan x Quidam de Revel) won Saturday’s CSI5* 1.50m winning round presented by Banorte.
With a time of 48.05 in the winning round, Biraben bested a field of 21 horse-and-rider combinations, taking the win ahead of Cian O’Connor (IRL) and Pegasus (K.I Checkter x Stolzenberg) in second in 48.15, John Perez Bohm (COL) with Aztlan (Otangelo x Andiamo) in third in 49.94 and Federico Fernandez (MEX) aboard Diamonds Are Unique (Diamant de Semilly x Apache d’Adries) in fourth with a time of 54.16. With four penalties in 47.95, Luis Alejandro Plascencia O. and Zara del Pinar (Zirocco Blue VDL x Glock’s London) finished fifth.
