Edited press release from Jumping International de Dinard
Jumping International de Dinard kicked off today, in the stunning Val Porée equestrian stadium, and it was home rider Nicolas Delmotte (FRA) who won the opening CSI5* class – the 1.45m presented by Mars & Co.
The 1.45m competition was jumped over two phases, and it brought together forty-five horse-and-rider combinations. While some used the class to school their horses ahead of the weekend, others picked up the pace to compete for the win. Eventually, the French were the fastest. Charles-Henri Fermé on Bellini Dufaure de L (Mylord Carthago x Dollar dela Pierre) delivered a clear round and set the time to beat at 42.78, but his compatriot Laurent Goffinet showed that it was room for improvement when he aboard Atom des Etisses (Mylord Carthago x Quidam de Revel) stopped the clock at 40.36. Julien Gonin came close with Valou du Lys (Calvaro F.C. x Galoubet A), but with his 40.57 he had to slot in behind Goffinet. However, it was Delmotte who saved the best for the very end of the class, when piloting Citadin du Chatellier (L'Arc de Triomphe x Diamant de Semilly) to a time of 39.53 in phase two of the competition taking the top honours ahead of Goffinet and Gonin – to the great delight of the Dinard public.
The CSI3* 1.45m went to Steve Guerdat and Double Jeu d'Honvault (Kannan x Cook du Midour), who with their time of 73.89 seconds took the win ahead of French riders Julien Gonin on Estrella de la Batia (Diamant de Semilly x Lando) in 74.19 seconds and Alice Vancrayelynghe on Volcan du Sartel (Coriano Zwartepannenhof x Quat'Sous) in 76.23.
