Nine horse-and-rider combinations qualified for the jump-off in Friday evening's CSI4* 1.50m VDL Groep Prize at Jumping Indoor Maastricht, the Netherlands, where the top three finished within two tenths of each other.
In the end, it was the Norwegian national anthem that echoed through the MECC, as Oda Charlotte Lyngvær and the 10-year-old mare Carabella vd Neyen Z (Carrera VDL x Lux Z) took the top honours.
Lyngvær had not dared to dream of this result: “This is unbelievable! Carabella vd Neyen Z is my first horse for this level and prior to this I never expected to succeed. So, I also had something to prove to myself. That's why it means so much to me. We gave it our all in the jump-off. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the 1 appear on the scoreboard. This is also our first win together. All in all, super emotional," she said in a press release from Jumping Indoor Maastricht.
USA's Laura Kraut and Bisquetta (Bisquet Balou C x Takashi van Berkenbroek) followed in second place, while home rider Tani Joosten completed the podium riding and Galdal Me (Zambesi TN x Chin Chin). It was a good evening for the Dutch at the MECC; Maikel van der Vleuten on Dywis HH (Toulon x Corofino II) finished fourth, and Sanne Thijssen riding Cum Laude (Cooper van de Heffinck x Corofino 2) fifth.
