Richard Howley (IRL) is on a winning streak at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain. After taking the top honours in Thursday's Big Tour Grand Prix qualifier, Howley again went off with the win in Friday's CSI4* 1.50m Andalucía Trophy – a competition counting for the Longines Ranking and a qualifier for Sunday's Grand Prix. Like yesterday, it was the 14-year-old gelding Mansini LTD (Caressini L x Marramas) that was the Irish rider's partner.
Blazing around the 1.50m track, built by Leopoldo Palacios, Howley stopped the clock at 74.31 seconds – only 0.06 seconds faster than his compatriot Jason Foley and the 9-year-old mare Rockwell RC (Kannan x Guidam). The third place went to Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) and Bentley de Sury (Sunday de Riverland x Calvaro) with a time of 77.09 seconds, while Commandant Geoff Curran (IRL) yet again delivered another top result when placing fourth with Glengarra Wood (Capitalist x Cavalier Clover Lad), followed by Michael Viehweg (GER) in fifth aboard Contario (Contendro I Caridor Z).
