Fresh from his World Cup win in Zürich, Sergio Alvarez Moya continued his good form in Amsterdam on Friday night. The Spanish rider was best of 52 riders in the 1.50 Grand Prix qualifier, riding Kisby (Kaiserwind x Lohberg) to a double clear round – one of only two in the class. With a smooth and fluent jump-off, Sergio stopped the clock on 42.10 seconds to leave Roger Yves Bost behind him on Nippon d’Elle (Scherif D´elle Sf x Narcos Ii) with a time almost three seconds slower. In third came a home rider; Bart Bles on Wolisco DDH (Nolisco x Celano) – one of many riders with one time fault from the first round being carried on.
The 1.45 class went to Karim El Zoghby on Colour Girl (Cormint x Locato). Just behind on the time followed Constant van Paesschen riding Diamanthina van’t Ruytershof (Diamant De Semilly x Carthago), while third place went to Maikel van der Vleuten on VDL Groep Eureka (Chin Chin x Quidam De Revel).
