Simone Blum (GER) and DSP Alice (Askari x Landrebell) continue their winning streak, and today the in-form pair took home the top honours in the CSI5* €270.000 Longines Grand Prix of Lausanne.
A field of 44 riders had lined up for the first-round 1.60m Grand Prix track counting thirteen fences, set by Italian course designer Uliano Vezzani. The best 25 % would return for round two's shortened track, in this case meaning all clears and one rider on a time penalty – in total eleven pairs.
Five riders managed to produce double clear rounds, and fastest of them was Blum and her 10-year-old chestnut mare who beat Roger Yves Bost (FRA) and Sydney Une Prince (Baloubet du Rouet x Alfa d'Elle) – winners of Friday's feature class in Lausanne – by one second. In third place followed another French rider; Simon Delestre on Chadino (Chacco-Blue x Narew xx) – almost two seconds behind the winning time. The two last clears in the second round belonged two Nicola Philippaerts (BEL) on Chilli Willi (Casall x Lord) that ended fourth, and Alberto Zorzi (ITA) on Ego van Orti (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Darco) that finished fifth.
