Ireland’s Paul O’Shea double cleared the Gold Big Tour Grand Prix at Drammen Spring Tour with his wonderful Skara Glen’s Sienna (Chacco Blue x Gran Corrado). Neither of his two Irish friends Michael and Alex Duffy nor five talented young Norwegian riders managed to beat O’Shea's 40,28 seconds in the jump-off. "The course was lovely, fair to the horses. It suited my horse well," O’Shea said after. He has been riding the nine year old mare since she was five, taking over the horse from Dutch rider Joy Lammers through Emile Hendrix.
At this year’s Winter Festival O’Shea and Skara Glen’s Sienna won a 1,50 m class with their biggest win so far is a 75 000 dollar win in 2014. "I am very happy with her, next week I think she will do her first Nations Cup. She is a very special horse, and also very sensitive. That is why I said no to the winning blanket and the rosette on her bridle – we’ve tried that before, and I didn’t want to upset her," the sympathetic rider explained.
Second best in the class was the Norwegian rider Iselin Gjendemsjø riding Woulon L (Toulon x Ramiro Z), while Michael Duffy on Bocello (Heartbreaker x Ramiro) and Alex Duffy on Wrangler II (Padinus x Burgraaf) came third and fourth.
The CSI2* Grand Prix in Fontainebleau was won by Adeline Hecart with Question d'Orval (Rosire x Tu Viens Dorval) ahead of Ivan Serrano Saenz with Finn Chin van't Goor (Chin Chin x Argentinus) and Lisa Nooren with VDL Groep Sabech D'Ha (Qredo de Paulstra x Talent Platiere).
USA's Alexandra Crown won the CSI2* Grand Prix in Madrid riding the fantastic Von Cim (Levisto x Carthago). She was followed by three home riders; Luis Fernandez Gil Fournier with Espinosa (Darco), Manuel Anon Suarez with Rackel Chavannaise (Voltaire x Papillon Rouge) and Marta Ortega Perez with Clever Girl (Cassini I x Contender).
The CSI2* Grand Prix in Lummen was dominated by home riders. Sven van Dijck won the class with Vici R while Jelle Limbourg took second place riding Ultime du Marcq (Joyeux Ardent x Voltaire). Third place went to Gudrun Patteet with Sea Coast Hadise (Darco x Skippy).
