Will Simpson (USA) and Chacco P (Chacco-Blue x Elite) won Wednesday’s International Ring competition, the CSI5* 1.45m The Crew, to kick off the CSI5* competitions of the Spruce Meadows ‘North American’ 2025 in Calgary, Canada. 

Simpson posted the fastest clear round with a time of 68.86s to secure victory ahead of Patricio Pasquel (MEX) and Cabablue (Cabachon x Chacco-Blue) in second and Kara Chad (CAN) aboard Corinna Z (Cornet Obolensky x Kannan) in third. 

"The atmosphere is great, and, I’m so excited to be here for the 50th anniversary," Simpson said. "I hadn't been here in a while, it's been a great. All the riders that we brought (and horses) are all very excited and talking about coming back next year.” 

The courses for this week’s five-star competitions will be designed by Santiago Varela (ESP). Riders will compete in Thurday’s qualifier, Jayman BUILT Cup, looking to secure their spot for a chance in Saturday’s CSI5* 1.60m $1,000,000 ATCO Queen Elizabeth II Cup.
