Edited press release from Longines Global Champions Tour
The Longines Global Champions Tour announces a star-studded line-up for the 11th stage of the 2024-season, set to take place at Ludger Beerbaum's Riesenbeck International Equestrian Centre from 18 - 21 July. German equestrian enthusiasts are in for a treat as an impressive array of national heroes, including Christian Ahlmann, Marcus Ehning, Christian Kukuk, and Richard Vogel, will be competing on home soil.
The anticipation is building as top German riders prepare to showcase their talents in one of the most competitive equestrian events of the year. Huge names are on the start list for local fans, including Philipp Weishaupt, Katrin Eckermann, David Will, Marco Kutscher, Hans-Dieter Dreher, Sophie Hinners, Nicola Pohl, Philipp Schulze Topphoff and Jana Wargers.
The largest ring of the season seems to be a fitting stage for the Titans to clash and for the title-race to unfold further. Maikel van der Vleuten is heading to Germany with only one goal… to climb the championship rankings and push Max Kühner off top spot. But hot on the Dutchman’s heels is young gun Gilles Thomas bringing big horsepower to the grass arena this weekend.
Crossing over the pond the likes of Laura Kraut, Jessica Springsteen, LGCT Grand Prix of Paris runner-up Kent Farrington and Natalie Dean are flying the flag for USA, while a bit closer to home Belgium have both 2024 LGCT Super Grand Prix qualified brothers Nicola and Olivier Philippaerts along with top names of Jérôme Guéry, Abdel Said and Thibeau Spits.
In need of a maximum score of championship points in Riesenbeck is three-time LGCT Champion Ben Maher, Jur Vrieling, Mark McAuley, Michael Pender, Olivier Robert and Simon Delestre – making sure it will be a lightning-fast week of elite competition.
