Daniel Deusser (GER) and Happiness van't Paradijs (Obourg x Quick Lauro Z) won the first CSI5* class at the Longines Global Champions Tour Final in Doha.
It was a class in two phases, and Deusser finished the second phase in 24,47 seconds just slightly ahead of runner-up Laura Renwick (GBR) with MHS Washington (Obos Quality x Cavalier Royale). Third place went to Sweden's Peder Fredricson with H&M Zaloubet (Maloubet de Pleville x Robin Z), and he was the first rider out of five that was within a second - the others where Jos Verlooy (BEL) with Farfelu de la Pomme (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Darco), Jessica Mendoza (GBR) with Constance (Indoctro x Animo), John Whitaker (GBR) with Argento (Arko III x Gasper) and Michael Whitaker (GBR) with JB's Hot Stuff (Locarno 62 x Cavalier Royale).
The second class of the day was also a 1.45m class, but this one against the clock. Several riders made their horses ready for tomorrow's LGCT Final which lead to quite a few time faults - just like in the earlier class, but others went all in.
Fastest of them all was Cian O'Connor (IRL) with Callisto (Quasimodo Z x Jokinal de Bornival). Even though home rider Bassem Mohammed (QAT) gave his very best to beat the time, and give the audience a home win, he had to settle for second place aboard Argelith Squid (Salito x Gibraltar). Third place went to USA's Emily Moffitt with Cassius Clay (Carolus x Burggraaf), fourth to Christian Ahlmann (GER) with Caribis Z (Caritano x Canabis Z) and fifth to Sheikh Ali Al Thani (QAT) with Imperio Egipcio Milton (Dollar du Murier x Capitol I).
