This week, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will host the GC Playoffs that has both the annual Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix and the GCL Super Cup on the program and a prize pool of over €11 million on offer.
At the GC Riyadh Playoffs, 14 GCL teams will compete – fielding a team of four riders each, and having to select three riders to participate in each round with no drop score.
The top four teams from the 2024 GCL standings – the Cannes Stars powered by Iron Dames, Riesenbeck International powered by Kingsland Equestrian, Stockholm Hearts powered by H&M We Love Horses, and the Doha Falcons – have already secured their fast track to the GCL Super Cup Semi-Finals, skipping the knockout quarter-finals.
The 2024 GCL Champions Cannes Stars powered by Iron Dames will be represented by Katrin Eckermann (GER), Sophie Hinners (GER), Natalie Dean (USA) and Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER). Last year's GCL Super Cup winners Riesenbeck International will be fielding 2024 Olympic Champion Christian Kukuk (GER), Eoin McMahon (IRL), Philipp Schulze Topphoff (GER), and Philipp Weishaupt (GER).
Malin Baryard-Johnsson (SWE), Julien Epaillard (FRA), as well as Nicola and Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) will represent Stockholm Hearts, while Doha Falcons will be sending Jérôme Guéry (BEL), Michael Pender (IRL), Wilm Vermeir (BEL) and Julien Anquetin (FRA).
Fifteen contenders will also be vying for victory in the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix on Friday night, where riders will confront two challenging 1.65m tracks.
