Sweden's Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli and the 11-year-old mare Dyrka du Carry won Friday's CSIO5* 1.45m Prix Captain Jet at the 2024-edition of CSIO5* Jumping International de La Baule.
Stopping the clock on 56.00, the Swedish rider took the win ahead of Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) on Kwik Tweet (For Pleasure x Twisther) in second in 57.42 and Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) aboard Made In'T Ruytershof (Norton d'Eole x Diamant de Semilly) in third in 57.55. Shane Sweetnam (IRL) and Irandole du Flot (Vivaldi du Seigneur x Ogano Sitte) finished fourth in 57.70, followed by Marie Demonte (FRA) aboard Flashing de Riverland (Kannan x Allegreto) in fifth in 57.89.
"Honestly, I think I won it because I have a very quick horse," Augustsson Zanotelli commented to World of Showjumping afterwards. "There were other riders that were going faster and leaving out strides more than I did, but by nature my horse is fast. She is a horse I have now about a year and half, and she goes with me as my second horse next to Kalinka. She is a very competitive mare. She never cares about anything; when she goes in the ring, she is just straightforward. She is always doing her best, and she has a very nice character; outside the ring, she is standing still with long reins but when we go in she fires up."
"I think that for most of the riders, La Baule is a favorite," the happy winner said about the iconic French venue. "The atmosphere is amazing, and it is always a pleasure to come here."
