Arrivederci Rome!

This year CSIO Rome - Piazza di Siena celebrated its 90th anniversary with some of the sport's best horse-and-rider combinations competing at one of the most beautiful and historical venues in the world. In this photo special, we take a last look back at this stunning show!

The military paraded in many prize giving ceremonies and were a big part of the celebrations.

The arena at Piazza di Siena is one of the most breathtaking in the world, and is located in the huge Villa Borghese, in the middle of Rome.

Lush and green all over!

The trees and hedges around the arena just add to that extra feeling the show gives...

Some companies had their own little VIPs where they could watch the top sport protected from the sun.

The bond between horses and their grooms...

... as well as between the grooms and the riders, is part of what makes this sport so special.

During the Rolex Grand Prix course walk, the last fence of the first round ended up as a meeting point, since the course plan for the second round was put up there.

The venue is open for the general public and everyone passing by could find a place to watch the top sport close-up. For most days it was packed.

During Thursday afternoon's 1.50m class a thunderstorm forced the class to take a short break.

Still being 27 degrees, no one seem to really mind the heavy rain.
