Belgium best in the CSIO4* FEI Nations Cup of Linz

The first FEI Nations Cup in Europe Divison 2 was staged in Linz, Austria on Friday. The CSIO4* Nations Cup presented by SPREHE Feinkost had twelve teams at start, and eight of these moved on to round two. In a league of their own in this 1.60m competiton was Belgium, who won on a total score of four faults after three of their four riders delivered clears in round two. Belgium was followed by Denmark on 17 faults – good enough for second place, while Great Britain and Italy tied in third on 18 penalties. 

Top three CSIO4* Nations Cup Linz 2018:

Europe Division 2 has been divided into four groups this season, for the purpose of qualifying eight teams – plus the home team if not already qualified – for the Division 2 FEI Nations Cup qualifier at CSIO5* Budapest in Hungary, on Sunday 12th of August, where these teams will compete for two tickets for the Longines FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona.

Group A consists of the following NFs: TUR; GRE; BUL; ROU

Group B consists of the following NFs: EST; LAT; LTU; RUS; BLR; UKR

Group C consists of the following NFs: HUN; SVK; SLO; CZE; AUT; POR

Group D consists of the following NFs: NOR; DEN; POL; FIN; LUX 

The points obtained in the Nations Cup competitions at the qualifying events in Division 2 for Groups A, B, C and D are added together to establish the standings of each group to determine which countries that qualify for the Division 2 qualifier in Budapest. Teams may take part in CSIOs outside their own group, but can not earn points for the group standings at these events. 

The Europe Division 2 teams heading to Budapest will be decided by the European Equestrian Federation qualification system. For the FEI Nations Cup rules, click here.

The lowest ranked team on the overall standings for Europe Division 1 prior to the 2018 FEI Nations Cup Final will be automatically relegated to Division 2 for the 2019 season, and the best placed team at the 2018 Division 2 FEI Nations Cup qualifier in Budapest will be promoted to Division 1.
