The CSIO5* event in Lummen, Belgium, has been cancelled. Extreme rain as well as snow during the last week has forced the FEI delegates and show organizers to cancel the event, which included the first leg of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Europe Division 1 that was supposed to take place on Friday 29th.
Five teams were allocated to collect points in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Europe Division 1 in Lummen; the hosts, Ireland, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic. The FEI rules in regards to cancellation and calculation of points, read:
"8.5 Cancellation of a 2016 Qualifying Competition
In the case of a qualifying Competition being cancelled in any Region or Division where teams are allocated Events counting for points the following procedure applies.
Teams whose result would have counted for points at the cancelled Competition are distributed points for the cancelled Competition, based on the total number of points obtained at their other allocated Events divided by the number of Events at which they have participated for points. This calculation is carried out at the end of the season."
The CSI2* and CSI1* classes, as well as the Belgian Championships for 7-year-olds will go on as planned.
